Hi everyone!
This week we're going to really focus on the two dances we're going to be performing at Babson (pending OSI approval)! Next week, we're planning on incorporating the other dances and potentially introducing a Bachata dance, so look forward to that! Either way, as usual, all of our practices are open, so feel free to attend any of them! If you feel like you would like to perform either of the dances from this week (or even both) on October 14th at Babson, please fill out this spreadsheet. We listed our deadline as earlier today to work out the schedules for this week, but we to fill out a form to get the performance approved next week, so please fill it out before Monday (October 2nd)! If you have any questions about our practices, gatherings, and events, feel free to ask us on our Discord or email Denisse (da109) and me (im104). Below is an overview of each practice day and what time each dance will be.
Thursday 9/28
We'll be going over both dances today!
9 pm, Jarabe Tapatio: Jalisco-style folklorico dance with leaders and followers.
10 pm, El Sombrero Azul: Xuc dance with an emphasis on skirt work.
Saturday 9/30
We'll only be going over Jarabe Tapatio today (4 - 6 pm)! As always, you can stay for part of our practice and not the entire session, but if you're definitely interested in performing this dance, I would encourage you to stay as long as you can!
Sunday 10/1
We'll be only going over El Sombrero Azul today (3 - 5 pm)! As with Saturday, you do not have to attend the entire practice, but I would encourage it if you're interested in performing this dance! We might end up modifying a little bit of the skirt work to make it a little easier, so today we'll hopefully finalize the choreography <3
