Hi everyone!

We were so excited to see some of you at the Orgs Fair and at practice last week. We're going to be reviewing the three dances we started last week, but are adding in another dance! Next week, we might even introduce a fifth dance, so look forward to that if you're interested in some more contemporary/modern styles. We'll also be starting our sign-ups for a performance coming up on October 14th at Babson, which we'll put out on Sunday/Monday and have out in time for our practices next week. If you have any questions about our practices, gatherings, and events, feel free to ask us on our Discord or email Denisse (da109) and me (im104). Below is an overview of each practice day and what time each dance will be. Below that will be links to register for the practices, which are optional but may help with the check-in process!

Also, be on the lookout for our eboard Instagram take-overs over on @wc_cielitolindo! See you all (hopefully) soon!

Thursday 9/21

We'll be going over our intermediate dances today, one a little easier and one a little harder! Both dances are at a place where you can pick them up, and you can always feel free to ask if you'd like to meet to go over it at a separate time!

  • 9 pm, Jarabe Tapatio: Jalisco-style folklorico dance with leaders and followers. We'll do an overview of the steps, the skirt work, and begin piecing it all together.
  • 10 pm, El Sombrero Azul: Xuc dance with an emphasis on skirt work. We got about halfway through it last, so we'll review the beginning and learn the next few steps!

Saturday 9/23

We'll be going over a beginner and intermediate dance today! These are going to be quite a bit of review, but both are super fun.

  • 4 pm, Las Mujeres Que Pintan: Yucatan-style folklorico dance without skirtwork. For the performance, we have bandanas we hold instead! We'll be reviewing the dance in its entirety and potentially doing over choreography.
  • 5 pm, Jarabe Tapatio: Jalisco-style partnered dance. We'll do another quick overview of the steps, then continue piecing all of the individual parts into a continuous dance!

Sunday 9/24

We'll be going over a new beginner dance and continuing our harder intermediate dance! If we have time we might throw in a review of our other beginner or our other intermediate dances.

  • 3 pm, Mambo No. 5: We're going to be learning a cute little 50's-ish dance to the original instrumental version of Mambo No. 5! I promise it's cute.
  • 4 pm, El Sombrero Azul: This Xuc dance is currently the hardest dance we're learning, not necessarily because of the steps but because of the speed! We'll continue going over the steps and getting all of them timed correctly.
